Making Space has been supporting carers for over 40Â years
We have seen the changing and ever increasing pressures carers experience and provide valuable support to help.
We have and always will listen to what carers tell us they need and adapt support accordingly.
Do you live in Cheshire East and look after someone?
If so, whether they are a child, parent, family member or friend, you could be entitled to emotional, practical and financial support through the Cheshire East Carers Hub service.
We want to understand how you are doing physically and emotionally. If you reach out to us for support we will explore how we can help you in your caring role now and plan for the future.
We will work with you to find solutions and identify support and resources available to you in Cheshire East.
Our support will be personalised and holistic. With you we will consider all the areas of your life and what is important to and for you. This could include:
- A statutory carer’s assessment
- One to one support
- Peer support and groups
- Activities and carer breaks
- Training both to support you in your caring role and for your own personal development or interests
- Volunteering opportunities
- Referrals and sign posting to our partners
- Opportunities to shape the service we provide

Support for Young Carers
Cheshire East Young Carers’ Hub helps to ensure that young carers between the ages of 5 and 18 years old are identified and provided with support in their caring role. Young carers tell us that they worry about asking for support in case it upsets the person they care for or they worry about adults thinking that they cannot cope, resulting in the person they care for being taken away from them.
It can also be a bit scary for young carers to practically reach out for support and we want to enable you to contact us in ways you are familiar and comfortable with.
It can be hard to pick up the phone, so young carers can reach out to us by text or email.
What happens next?
One of our young carer support workers, will respond to you using the method that suits you best i.e. text, phone or email and have a chat with you about you and your caring role. You can then together, decide on a plan that will work for you, based on your needs and wishes and also help you talk to other people who can help including teachers, employers and other services.
